民間團體赴聯合國 要求關注本港婦女權益
採訪通知聯合國消除對婦女歧視委員會將於本月23日舉行正式聆訊,審議中國(包括香港及澳門)履行《消除對婦女一切形式歧視公約》(「婦女公約」CEDAW)之情況,聆訊將會當面向中港澳政府代表作口頭提問。香港民間代表團亦會赴日內瓦出席小組會議,向聯合國委員進行游說,要求委員關注本港婦女議題,及建議他們向政府作出提問。

明天,民間代表團將會在雨傘佔領運動中,展示著無數港人對民主政制和自由渴求的「連儂牆香港」前舉行記者會,表達希望聯合國委員關注的問題。當中包括本港政制對女性參政的排拒,及社會運動中女性受到性暴力威嚇等問題。

NGO Delegation Leaves for Geneva to Request UN Concern over Women's Rights in HK

Hong Kong, 14 October 2014 - A United Nations (UN) committee will hold a formal hearing at Geneva on 23 October 2014 to review the obligations of China (including Hong Kong and Macao) under the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW). At the hearing, members of the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women will raise questions towards government representatives from Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao. A group of Hong Kong NGOs will also send a delegation to Geneva to attend the hearing and lobby Committee members on issues concerning women's rights in Hong Kong.
TOMORROW (15/10), the NGO delegation to UN will hold a press conference outside the "Lennon Wall Hong Kong", which symbolizes the pursuit of democracy and freedom in the Umbrella Movement. NGOs will brief the media on the issues that they would request the UN Committee to consider, which will include the exclusion of women from the political system and the sexual violence that women protestors have suffered.
